Judge denies motion to reduce sentence for man convicted in French Quarter bartender hit-and-run death

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) – A judge denied a motion Thursday to reduce the sentence of the man convicted in the hit-and-run death of a New Orleans bartender.

Thomas Riggio pleaded guilty to the hit-and-run in January and was sentenced to 9 years in prison. His attorney filed a motion to lower the sentence Thursday morning, citing similar Louisiana cases where defendants received lesser sentences.
