Sewerage and Water Board activates additional staff, new power equipment ahead of weekend flood threat

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) – The Sewerage and Water Board of New Orleans is bringing on additional staff overnight and Sunday to run drainage pumps as the city faces a low-end flood threat through the weekend.

According to the agency, 85 of 93 main drainage pumps are available. Eight pumps are offline, five in New Orleans East, one in Algiers and one at the 17th Street Canal on the border of Orleans and Jefferson parishes.
