Early morning fire rips through Metairie home; residents safe

METAIRIE, La. — A two-alarm fire damaged a Metairie home early Tuesday, but all residents got out safely, a Jefferson Parish official said.

According to a parish spokesperson, firefighters were called to the 4500 block of Transcontinental Drive around 4:02 a.m. The first unit arrived four minutes later, and the crew called a second alarm. The fire was brought under control at 4:42 a.m.

A resident said a smoke alarm woke them up to a fire on the back patio that had spread into the attic and roof. Everyone inside evacuated safely…
