Witness says Motta became defensive, personal when fraud concerns raised in staged crash trial

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) – A defense attorney testified Tuesday that personal injury attorney Vanessa Motta became defensive and made personal attacks after fraud concerns were raised in a 2017 sideswipe accident case, as federal prosecutors continued building their case against two attorneys accused in alleged schemes to stage 18-wheeler crashes.

Testimony from Tuesday’s proceedings

Misha Logan-Johnson, who served as lead attorney for a company whose truck was involved in a sideswipe accident near Gentilly in 2017, testified that a lawsuit against the company alleged the truck struck a van carrying 11 passengers. Motta represented six of those passengers.

Logan-Johnson said she later suspected that the accident and others like it were staged, and relayed those suspicions to Motta through court filings.

“She became very defensive, and dug her heels in that they were not staged…things got very personal. I was called a liar, that I was making false statements to the court. I was called a b****…and I was called ghetto,” Logan-Johnson testified…
