Jefferson Parish officials are working with Metairie St. Patrick’s Day Parade organizers to investigate riders who were filmed Sunday repeatedly hitting their chests and throwing their arms straight into the air, flashing what appeared to be Nazi salutes.
The video, which has been posted to Facebook by at least two people and shared dozens of times, shows three young riders on Float No. 28 holding their arms out, palms down and laughing as they point to attendees in the crowd and toss throws. One rider continues to hold his arm up even as another grabs it in an apparent attempt to pull it down.
“We do not tolerate hate,” Jefferson Parish spokesperson Gretchen Hirt said in a prepared statement Sunday evening. “We notified parade organizers as soon as we found out about this incident and are working with them to investigate exactly what occurred and make sure it is addressed.”…
