NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) – Dozens of New Orleans students diagnosed with special needs took part in Saturday’s Irish Channel St. Patrick’s Day Club parade, riding one of the event’s largest floats for free.
The celebration began at Annunciation Playground, located across the street from St. Michael’s Special School. Each student and their chaperone then boarded the float, which had been pre-loaded with beads and throws the day before.
“Barry Kern, Dan Kelly, the Burkes, everybody pitched in!” said organizer Glen Hyer. “(The students) really just have to step on the float.”…
