The Joint, a neighborhood staple serving up smoked meat with all the fixings in the Bywater, was named by Southern Living readers as the best barbecue restaurant in Louisiana for 2026.
The hole-in-the-wall spot with an iconic yellow and brown sign joins the lifestyle magazine’s South’s Best 2026 list and is accompanied by about a dozen other barbecue restaurants in states including Alabama, Florida, Texas, Tennessee, South Carolina and Oklahoma. In The Shed BBQ and Blues Joint in Ocean Springs claimed the top spot in Mississippi.
