Mayor Helena Moreno has signed a new executive order into effect that will better manage all properties owned by the city.
Executive Order HM 26-15 creates the City-Owned Real Estate Team (CORET), an internal government group meant to work quickly and efficiently. Instead of different departments handling things separately, CORET will bring staff from several city departments together to make more coordinated decisions.
The team’s job is to review all city-owned properties. They will then note which ones are not being used well and devise ways to make better use of them — whether that means fixing the buildings up, selling them, renting them out or turning them into something useful for the community…
