Cities across Louisiana are tired of the bullying by the Municipal Police Employees Retirement System.
In preparation for the legislative session, I’m meeting with many groups that represent the interests of local governments, and I was surprised that during a recent meeting, I was immediately thanked for speaking up against MPERS’ tactics. Even more surprising is that, after further research, I learned that many other cities are facing the same issues with MPERS. The majority of these cities are smaller than New Orleans, so they face even worse implications than we do.
