NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) – About 8,000 horse racing fans from as far away as Dubai attended the 113th running of the Louisiana Derby at Fair Grounds on Saturday, with $1 million on the line.
French jockey Flavien Prat on Emerging Market won the race by a nose at the wire, besting six-to-one odds. Emerging Market now heads to Louisville as a favorite to win the Kentucky Derby in May.
