New Orleans court warns of traffic violations scam

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — The Municipal and Traffic Court of New Orleans is warning residents about a scam demanding payment for alleged parking and toll violations.

According to the court, the scammers are impersonating the court’s traffic division with a Notice of Default” letter, demanding residents immediately pay alleged traffic violations. The document attempts to create urgency by threatening legal consequences, including license suspension and collections actions. It includes a QR code directing recipients to resolve the matter.

Drug-trafficking operation dismantled in Orleans, Jefferson parishes: NOPD

Court officials said not to scan the QR code or provide and personal or financial information. They said not to make any payments in response to the notice. They said to verify any suspected court-related communication by contacting the court directly.
