Longtime Marigny bar Checkpoint Charlie’s permanently closed on Tuesday, announcing on social media that “papers were signed this morning.”
It was a somber day outside of the dive bar as longtime customers bid Checkpoint Charlie’s farewell. Many gathered outside of 501 Esplanade Ave. on Tuesday afternoon to share fond memories and pay their respects.
