Two New Orleans assistant city attorneys resign after using AI for federal court filing

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) – New Orleans City Attorney Charline Gipson confirmed Wednesday (April 1) that two staff attorneys have resigned after using artificial intelligence “in connection” to a federal court filing.

Gipson said in a statement the two attorneys’ use of AI in the pleading resulting in unspecified “sanctions” from the court. Gipson said she was not a part of the case when the attorneys filed the brief.

The statement said the two attorneys subsequently resigned from their city jobs. Gipson’s statement did not name the attorneys, explain the nature of the filing or reference the case…
