Midnight Gunfire Mystery Sends Two Men To New Orleans Hospitals

Two men landed in New Orleans emergency rooms after separate overnight shootings early Saturday, and police say they are still trying to piece together exactly what happened in either case. According to the New Orleans Police Department, one man showed up at a local hospital with gunshot wounds but was unable to tell investigators where the shooting took place. A second victim was driven in a private vehicle to a different hospital with at least two gunshot wounds to the abdomen, then transferred to a trauma center for further treatment. Police said no suspects have been identified, and detectives remain at the hospitals and in the field working the case, according to WWL-TV.

As reported by WWL-TV, the first victim walked into an area emergency department, and officers have so far been unable to determine where that shooting happened. WWL-TV also reports that the second shooting was believed to have occurred near Norman C. Francis Parkway and Drexel Drive and that the second man was later transported to a trauma center.

Police response

Officers say they are actively investigating both incidents and have canvassed the areas tied to each report. “Investigations are ongoing,” the NOPD told WWL-TV. The department has not released the victims’ ages or any other identifying details.
