NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) – Hogs for the Cause returns to the UNO Lakefront Festival Grounds for its 18th year with two days of barbecue, live music and competition to support families with children battling severe illnesses.
The weekend kicks off Friday, April 10, with the return of Bacon and Wings Night, featuring creative bacon dishes, wings and samples from teams as they prep for Saturday’s main event. Guests can purchase food, mingle with pitmasters and catch performances across three stages. Gates open at 3:30 p.m.
On Saturday, April 11, more than 90 BBQ teams compete in the Ben Sarrat, Jr. Cookoff, vying for the Manning Family Children’s Grand Champion title across categories including Whole Hog, Ribs, Pork Butt/Shoulder and Porkpourri. Awards are also given for fundraising champions. Patrons can sample dishes for donations while enjoying a full day of live music on three stages. Gates open at 11 a.m.
Festival supports pediatric cancer families
Proceeds from the two-day festival fund direct financial grants, support pediatric oncology units nationwide and provide free, family-centered housing near children’s hospitals through Hogs Houses…
