Second man sentenced in New Orleans execution-style killing of Slidell waitress

A New Orleans judge has sentenced a second defendant to 40 years behind bars for the execution-style killing of a Slidell waitress.

Cody Matthews, 38, must serve at least 30 years of his prison term under the ruling Thursday from Orleans Parish Criminal District Judge Robin Pittman. His sentence came a few weeks after Pittman levied a 40-year sentence on Dylan Craddock for the August 2020 killing of Brook “Bee” Buchler.

Buchler, 28, was a server at Tacos & Beer, a Mexican restaurant in downtown Slidell. Her remains were found in a mixture of blood, water and debris inside a dilapidated building at the abandoned Bywater Navy base in the 9th Ward. She’d sustained a gunshot wound to the back of the head…
