NOPD searching for woman accused of robbing Shake Shack a day after applying for job

New Orleans police are searching for a Shake Shack job applicant accused of holding up the Canal Street burger chain with a hammer and making off with a cash register a day after she applied.

Shantanese Cruz, 28, is wanted for armed robbery, police said.

Cruz applied at the location on 333 Canal Street on April 2, according to Sgt. Sarah Cherny, an NOPD detective. The next morning, Cruz was back, allegedly armed with a hammer.

“(Cruz) demanded the manager open the register,” Cherny said at a meeting days after the crime. “When he did not, she smashed the register. When that failed, she took the register with her and headed out the door.”…
