Cinco de Mayo falls on a “taco Tuesday” this year, but what is normally a big day for Mexican restaurants will have a different feel at Johnny Sanchez.
It will be the last day for the downtown New Orleans restaurant from celebrity chef Aarón Sánchez, confirmed his business partner, chef Miles Landrem.
The Central Business District location of the brand wasn’t doing the business it needed to be viable. After 12 years, and with a new lease coming due, the partners had to make the call, he said.
“We were all very, very hopeful that it would turn around, but it hasn’t since COVID,” Landrem said. “It was a tough decision. We’re all betting on New Orleans, but we’re not able to ride it out.”…
