Orleans Parish clerk of criminal court to be sworn in as lawmakers seek to eliminate position

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) – Orleans Parish’s new clerk of criminal court will be sworn in on Tuesday as some lawmakers try to eliminate his job.

Calvin Duncan’s swearing-in is set for noon on the steps of the criminal court. He’ll take office on May 4.

Some lawmakers want to cut his position and combine the criminal and civil courts. They call it a cost-saving measure…
