DESTIN, Fla. (WNCN) — A North Carolina man is facing charges after authorities said he planned a mass shooting at a festival in New Orleans.
Christopher Gillum, a man wanted in Orleans Parish, Louisiana, was arrested Wednesday after deputies in Florida received information placing him in their jurisdiction. Gillum is wanted in Orleans Parish, Louisiana, on a charge of making terroristic threats, authorities said.
Gillum reportedly planned to travel to a festival in New Orleans to carry out a mass shooting before attempting “suicide by cop,” according to deputies.
A handgun and roughly 200 rounds of ammunition were recovered from his hotel room in Destin, according to the sheriff’s office. Gillum is being held in the Okaloosa County Jail pending extradition to Louisiana.
