NOPD overtime investigation finds more sergeants at home while on the clock

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) – New questions are emerging in Fox 8’s NOPD overtime investigation after cameras found two high-paid sergeants at home while timesheets showed they were on the clock for regular shifts.

Months after NOPD added biometric time clocks following a Fox 8 investigation into unchecked overtime, the latest findings raise questions about whether the department’s reforms go far enough, because NOPD Superintendent Anne Kirkpatrick said the biometric system is not required for regular shifts.

Earlier Fox 8 reports led to arrests, clock changes

The latest findings follow a Fox 8 investigation that previously found Sgt. Henry Burke and officer Brandon Coleman at home while their timesheets showed they were working. Burke later was arrested on four counts of public payroll fraud and six counts of injuring public records.

Fox 8 also found thousands of edits tied to the officers’ timesheets, including more than 900 actions on Burke’s timesheet under another sergeant’s user ID and more than 1,600 actions on Coleman’s timesheet under another sergeant’s user ID…
