The Orleans Parish School Board and the city of New Orleans have reached an agreement that would put an end to a long-running dispute over hefty tax-collection fees that the city charges the school district, officials said Monday.
The deal still must be approved by the school board, which is set to vote on it at a special meeting Tuesday at 10 a.m., and by the City Council.
Mayor Helena Moreno and school board members will hold a joint news conference at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday to announce a “resolution to (the) long standing legal battle,” according to an advisory that City Hall released on Monday.
