State tasked to show indicted Orleans ex-sheriff Susan Hutson’s failings were intentional

About a month after a mass jailbreak on her watch last year, as the search for inmates dragged on, then-Orleans Parish Sheriff Susan Hutson received a stern letter.

The criminal court judges were demanding she resume having deputies bring new arrestees over to court from jail on weekends and holidays, citing “numerous formal and informal requests” that had gone unanswered.
