The New Orleans area was pounded with rain over the last several days, leaving many waterways and parks on the northshore flooded on Mother’s Day.
Much of southeast Louisiana was under a flood advisory on Saturday as thunderstorms rolled through, including New Orleans, Metairie, Marrero, Avondale, Harvey, Timberlane, Gretna, Harahan, Westwego and Bridge City. A flood warning remained in effect Sunday near the Bogue Falaya River on the northshore.
Over the last two days, according to the National Weather Service, New Orleans saw up to 2.94 inches of rain. On the northshore, Folsom received 5.90 inches, Slidell got 5.1 to 5.5 inches and Covington saw between 2.8 and 2.95 inches. In Jefferson Parish, Kenner got 2 to 3 inches, Metairie got 2.15 to 2.73 inches and Gretna had 2.82 inches…
