A woman who killed two teen girls in a crash while fleeing police after allegedly shoplifting at Lakeside Shopping Center in Metairie pleaded guilty May 8, according to the Orleans Parish District Attorney’s Office.
Joneaka Smooth, 32, was scheduled to head to jury trial May 11 on a count of attempted manslaughter, a count of obstruction of justice and two counts of manslaughter in the deaths of Semaj Morris and Giselle Smith, two 17-year-old West Jefferson High School students.
