Voters re-elect Kenner mayor, pick Slidell police chief in local New Orleans area races

New Orleans-area residents cast ballots for a host of local races Saturday, giving Kenner Mayor Michael Glaser a second term, choosing a new police chief in Slidell and selecting judges in Orleans Parish civil and criminal court.

In Kenner, Glaser narrowly won a second term outright, securing just over 50% of the vote over his two opponents, Diane Schnell, a Democrat who came in second with 33% of the vote, and Walt Bennetti, who isn’t registered to a party and secured 16% of the vote, according to preliminary results from the Louisiana secretary of state.

“I ran on my 36 years here in the city of Kenner,” said Glaser in an interview with WWL Louisiana. “And I do believe the residents of Kenner are happy with what we’ve done over the past four years.”…
