Arrest made in killing of New Orleans bartender, son of former NOPD officer, officials say

A man was arrested Friday in connection with the killing of a New Orleans bartender, who was the son of a former law enforcement officer, according to the New Orleans Police Department.

Marcus McDaniel, 20, is accused of shooting 25-year-old Nicholas Dent to death on May 2 near the intersection of West Laverne Street and Erin Drive in the Little Woods area of New Orleans East, according to officials. McDaniel was booked into the Orleans Parish prison Friday morning on a count of second-degree murder.
