NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) – After a warm, humid, and soggy stretch across Southeast Louisiana the active pattern continues into this Memorial Day weekend. Expect rain and thunderstorms to join in on your weekend plans as rain chances remain high. Gulf moisture continues to steam in, interacting with small disturbances moving in aloft. This creates for an unsettled environment for the next few days.
Today is actually looking to be the quietest day out of the next few. Morning cloud cover will give way to a mix of sun and clouds by the afternoon. This could allow for temperatures to climb into the upper 80s west of the lake this afternoon. Pop-up showers and a stray storms look to develop during the afternoon/eve.
Saturday night through Sunday morning is the time frame that hold the highest confidence for wide coverage of showers and thunderstorms. Some of these will provide heavy rainfall which could lead to localized flooding.

Main threats this weekend: Outdoor activities may need an indoor backup plan. Rain will be periodic, not steady. Meaning there will be dry slots every day to go out and enjoy. Just be mindful that conditions can change quickly. Main takeaways are as followed……
