Mayor Zohran Mamdani has officially launched New York City’s Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP), giving more than 100,000 young New Yorkers the opportunity to gain paid work experience, build career skills, and earn a paycheck during the summer months.
The annual program, now in its 63rd year, remains the largest youth employment initiative in the nation, connecting participants with jobs at community organizations, hospitals, small businesses, government agencies, nonprofits, and cultural institutions across all five boroughs.
“For so many young New Yorkers, a summer job is more than just a way to pass the time—it’s a step toward their future,” said Mayor Mamdani in a press statement. “SYEP has helped thousands of New Yorkers start their careers, strengthen professional skills, and give back to the neighborhoods they call home while earning money.”…
