The second part of construction work necessary to open the new Portal North Bridge in Kearny to NJ Transit and Amtrak trains will start on Oct. 9 and last for five weeks, according to Amtrak.
The work is expected to reduce service by 62% during the five-week outage, which is scheduled to end Nov. 16 with the opening of both tracks on the new $2.3 billion bridge over the Hackensack River.
