Authorities are actively searching for a suspect following a series of stabbings in Crown Heights early Monday morning, just ahead of the New York Carnival Parade celebrations.
Two separate stabbing incidents occurred within roughly 30 minutes near the parade route, according to ABC 7. The first report came at 5:48 a.m. near Carroll Street and Utica Avenue, where officers found a 23-year-old man stabbed in the neck and a 36-year-old man stabbed in the face. Shortly after, at approximately 6:12 a.m., police located a third victim, a 32-year-old man, stabbed in the neck near Utica Avenue and President Street.
All three victims were transported to Kings County Hospital and are expected to survive their injuries.
Investigators believe one individual is responsible for all three attacks. The suspect is described as having a dark complexion and was last seen wearing gray jeans and a dark-colored T-shirt. Authorities continue to search for him, but his current whereabouts remain unknown.
This series of stabbings adds to recent incidents of violence across the city. Just days prior, early on Friday, September 4, police responded to a confrontation on the Brooklyn Bridge involving a man armed with a knife. According to officers, when the man approached within three feet and brandished the weapon, an officer discharged their firearm, resulting in the man’s death.
The NYPD urges anyone with information about the Crown Heights stabbings or the suspect’s location to come forward as the investigation remains ongoing.
