New York state pandemic food benefits set to expire. NYC families urged to redeem them soon

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. – Pandemic food benefits issued to New York City families are soon set to expire. Over the last several years, and due to the impact of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, New York state has distributed food benefits – called the Pandemic Electronic Benefit Transfer, or P-EBT – to all households with eligible children who receive free school lunch under the National School Lunch Act, according to the state Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance.
