New York Mom Who Smothered Twin 2-Year-Old Daughters to Death Sentenced to 20 Years

‘I killed them with my bare hands,’ Tenia Campbell said, according to police

A New York mother who admitted to smothering her 2-year-old twins to death was sentenced to 20 years to life in prison for their grisly murders .

Tenia Campbell, the 28-year-old mom of toddlers Jasmine and Jaida, killed them on June 27, 2019, according to the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office.

Campbell’s mother called 911 that day to report her daughter suffered from a history of mental health issues and was driving around with her granddaughters while threatening to kill them.

A large-scale search ensued and Campbell and her girls were tracked down an hour and a half later off Montauk Highway in Long Island, New York, where she demanded approaching officers “shoot her,” The Messenger previously reported.

An officer peaked into the van and saw the girls dead in their car seats, and the mother was subsequently taken into custody, according to authorities.

Campbell later admitted to suffocating her daughters to death and pleaded guilty to two counts of first-degree murder in December.
