Four Law Enforcement Agencies Work to Pull Fleeing Man from Morris Canal

A helicopter, two boats, and four law enforcement agencies were involved in extracting a man fleeing from police from the Morris Canal this afternoon. The incident, which took place just east of the Jersey Avenue Bridge, began at approximately 4:45 p.m. The New Jersey State Park Police, New Jersey Transit Police, Jersey City Police Department and New York City Police Department responded. After a half-hour standoff, an NYPD officer was able to pull the man onto a police boat. The man, who appeared unhurt, was subsequently transferred to a waiting ambulance at approximately 5:15 p.m.
