Man facing attempted murder, assault charges in string of random attacks on multiple women in Brooklyn

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A 24-year-old man has been arraigned on attempted murder, assault, and other charges in a string of random attacks on multiple women in Brooklyn, Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez announced Tuesday.

Damally Cain was arraigned on an indictment in which he is charged with attempted murder, attempted assault, assault, attempted robbery, and attempted grand larceny. He is set to return to court on Dec. 12.

According to the investigation, at approximately 4:42 p.m. on Aug. 18, Cain allegedly attacked a 66-year-old woman near the intersection of East 40th Street and Hubbard Place in Flatlands.

After approaching the victim, Cain allegedly pulled the woman to the ground, then punched and kicked her in the face, grabbing her by the hair and slamming her head against the pavement, the DA said.

After a bystander intervened, Cain allegedly fled the scene, leaving behind several of his personal belongings, including his passport and Social Security card.

Less than 10 minutes later, at 4:50 p.m., Cain allegedly attacked a 35-year-old woman near 1707 Flatbush Avenue in East Flatbush and attempted to steal her phone and wallet, officials said.
