Man attacked in NYC after declining to give person money: police

EAST VILLAGE, Manhattan (PIX11) – A man was attacked in New York City after he declined to give a person money on Friday, police said.

The incident happened in front of 223 First Ave. in the East Village in Manhattan around 2:30 p.m., according to the NYPD.

The suspect was asking for money and allegedly struck a 60-year-old man in the head with a metal bar after the victim declined to give any, according to police.

The victim suffered a cut to his head and was taken to a hospital, police said.

Police have not arrested the suspect, who was last seen fleeing north on First Avenue.
