Cynthia Erivo, the Tony, Emmy and Grammy winner and Academy Award-nominated actress and songwriter, will serve as host of the 2024 CFDA Fashion Awards presented by Amazon Fashion.
The CFDA Fashion Awards will take place on Monday at the American Museum of Natural History.
The British actress, producer, singer and songwriter is known for such theater roles as Celie in the Broadway revival of “The Color Purple,” which earned her a Tony Award for Best Actress in a Musical in 2016. She also starred in the movie, “Harriet,” portraying Harriet Tubman, for which she received Academy Award nominations for Best Actress and Best Original Song for “Stand Up.”
Erivo stars as Elphaba in Universal’s upcoming movie musical “Wicked,” alongside Ariana Grande.
“As a born and bred Londoner, I can safely say that the U.K. has its own sense of style, but when I moved to New York almost 10 years ago, I was welcomed into the open arms of the New York fashion industry. I was blown away by its ingenuity and its flair, and I felt right at home. When I was asked to serve as the host of the 2024 CFDA Fashion Awards presented by Amazon Fashion, I naturally did not hesitate to say yes. I cannot wait to celebrate the nominees and honorees in a room full of people I am inspired by,” Erivo said.
