The New York Mets recently saw their spectacular season come to an end on Sunday night in Game 6 of the NLCS. New York lost 10-5 to the Los Angeles Dodgers in the series finale.
However, the Mets have a bright future ahead of them and should be back in the mix next season. They should also be in the market for some of the top free agents this offseason.
One of the top pitchers on the market will be left-hander Max Fried. Jim Bowden of The Athletic predicts he’ll land a six-year, $174 million contract this winter and listed the Mets as a potential fit.
“Max Fried has a career record of 73-36 with a 3.07 ERA and 3.29 FIP. He’s made two All-Star teams, won two Gold Glove awards and finished top-five in the Cy Young Award voting twice,” Bowden wrote.
“The Braves have tried over the last several years to extend Fried to no avail.”
The Mets won 89 games this season and secured the third National League Wild Card. They operated on a lower payroll and ultimately surprised many around the game.
