The New York Yankees have a big offseason ahead of them. Juan Soto, one of the team’s star outfielders, is heading into free agency. Every other team is looking to snag Soto away from the Bronx.
Of course, the Yankees are hoping to make an offer that Soto can’t refuse. He was a big part of their run to the World Series, after all. However, New York is also preparing for the possibility that Soto chooses a different team.
Yankees GM Brian Cashman has mentioned that the team is looking at potentially snagging New York Mets star Pete Alonso as a “backup option”. Jon Heyman of the New York Post reported that aside from Alonso, the Yankees are looking at other big names from their rival teams as their Plan B.
“And they have legit interest, but people familiar with the situation told The Post that Alonso, Anthony Santander and Alex Bregman, plus star pitchers (one of Corbin Burnes, Blake Snell, Max Fried, etc.) are all part of Plans B, C and/or D in case Soto doesn’t return to The Bronx,” Heyman said .
