Displaced residents are trying to get back on their feet after a 5-alarm fire heavily damaged their apartment building in Allerton. Many returned to Wallace Avenue on Monday hoping to get their belongings, but the building is closed due to safety concerns. “I have nothing left, I lost everything in five minutes ,” explained Cynthia Quintina, who lived on the sixth floor. Several local groups are stepping in to help displaced families. “We are bringing in more supplies. There are a lot of people in need,” added Max Acosta, from the Disciples of Galilee. Bronx Borough President Vanessa Gibson says families will be allowed to stay in hotels through Jan. 21.
