Fines start soon for mandatory composting in NYC

NEW YORK CITY (PIX11)—Property owners who don’t separate their trash could soon face fines of up to $300.

As of October, New York City requires all property owners to separate food scraps and yard waste from their trash . The new rule started with a grace period with only warnings for unseparated trash.
