Minnesota-Headquartered Target Scales Back Self-Checkout Following Mounting Losses

Target is limiting self-checkout lanes to customers with 10 items or fewer in locations nationwide—including busy stores in Queens, New York and Sacramento, California.

While the Minneapolis-based retailer denies the move is due to theft, experts suggest otherwise.

A Target spokesperson told FOX News the policy, over a year in development, follows internal testing showing improved customer satisfaction. But industry analysts, including Neil Saunders of GlobalData, told CBS News that theft is a key concern.
