Neighbors in East Flatbush say they are concerned with pedestrian safety after a woman was struck and killed in the crosswalk.

Police say a car making a left turn from East 95th onto Rutland Road Wednesday evening hit 68-year-old Maurette Lafleur as she was crossing the street. They haven’t confirmed if speed was a factor, but the area is known for its traffic issues.

Last year, the city lowered the speed limit on East 94th Street between East New York Avenue and Rutland Road to 15 miles per hour. It’s one of 250 locations the DOT pushed for a reduction in speed in an effort to create safer streets. But neighbors say it’s not enough…
