Senior Woman Injured in Crossfire During Manhattan Shooting, Police Seek Suspects on E-Bike

Two individuals, including a 63-year-old woman caught in the crossfire, were shot on a Manhattan street near a school and hospital yesterday. Eyewitness News reported that the incident occurred around 2:30 p.m. at the intersection of East Broadway and Clinton Street on the Lower East Side. The other victim, a 21-year-old man believed to be the intended target, was shot in the right leg.

Surveillance footage showed the elderly woman inadvertently walking between groups of men just moments before the shots rang out. She was struck in the right foot and fell before a storefront. “She was outside her screaming, she was in pain, in a lot of pain, and the other lady walking with her was helping her, had a jacket on her leg and she was bleeding right down there,” Ahmed Samy, a local worker, told PIX 11 News.

Both the 63-year-old woman and the 21-year-old man were transported to Bellevue Hospital and are expected to survive their injuries. Eyewitness News reported that police were now actively searching for two male suspects that were seen fleeing the scene on an e-bike, though no arrests have been made at the time of this reporting…
