NYS Public Service Commission approves pipeline project

Environmental advocates are bewildered by the New York Public Service Commission’s approval of a new natural gas pipeline expansion.

National Grid, the natural gas and electricity provider undertaking the project, said the Northeast Supply Enhancement will increase capacity on existing pipelines supplying natural gas to New York City. While downstate natural gas ratepayers would bear the brunt of the project’s costs, electricity ratepayers upstate will see most of the benefits.
