Dog Uninjured After Breaking Loose and Getting Struck by an N.Y.C. Subway Train, Police Say

Bodycam footage caught the NYPD’s rescue of the stranded canine

A puppy is safe and back with its owners after officers with the New York Police Department rescued the missing dog from the city’s subway train tracks during rush hour.

Moose the pup got loose while out with his family and ended up under a northbound 2 train at the 14 Street subway station on Thursday, Oct. 23, a NYPD spokesperson tells PEOPLE. The agency added that the dog was struck by the train before hiding under one of its cars.

Officers with the NYPD’s Emergency Service Unit responded to a 911 call about Moose’s scary predicament at approximately 9:45 a.m. Officers were able to remove Moose, a small black dog with short curly hair, from underneath the train without injuring the pup…
