Paramedic Salih Abdur Rahman dies after shift at training center

An FDNY paramedic died Wednesday just after finishing his shift at the FDNY’s training academy on Randall’s Island, the department announced Thursday evening.

Salih Abdur Rahman, 46, joined the FDNY in 2002 and worked as an EMT for almost two decades before his promotion to paramedic in 2021.

“The FDNY is mourning the loss of Paramedic Salih Abdur Rahman, a dedicated Paramedic who served the people of New York for more than two decades,” said FDNY Commissioner Robert Tucker. “He touched the lives of so many EMTs and Paramedics, and the many whose lives he saved. Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife and his three young children, and his family and friends.”
