NEW YORK CITY (PIX11) — Why did the chicken hop on the subway train? That’s what some MTA officials want to know.
A train crew member got a wake-up call when he found a live chicken wandering around an empty N train near Astoria Boulevard in Queens around 5 a.m. on Thursday, MTA officials said.

The train had been sitting on some lay-up tracks, preparing to go into service for the morning commute, when the crew member found the animal clucking around during a walk-through, representatives for the transit agency said.
Although NYC Transit crews called for animal control, they were forced to take the train back to the Coney Island rail yard to have the bird removed and to clean up the mess it left behind.
