NYPD seeks public’s help identifying person of interest in R train subway stabbing

The New York City Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying a man who is sought for questioning in connection with an assault that occurred in Astoria, Queens.

It was reported to police that on Saturday, Dec. 20, at around 2:07 a.m., a 40-year-old male victim was approached by an unidentified individual while onboard a southbound “R” train at the Steinway Street subway station.

The unidentified individual and the victim engaged in a verbal dispute and then the unidentified individual stabbed the victim multiple times in the torso and left leg with a knife. The victim exited the train, and the unidentified individual remained onboard. EMS responded and removed the victim in stable condition to NYC Health and Hospitals in Elmhurst…
