The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA), the New York State agency that operates the Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) service, bumped up users’ costs from Sunday.

The price for a monthly ticket has spiked by 4.5% – costing up to an extra $21, while all other tickets – such as one-way fares – have risen by 8%…
